My first Café Hopping @ Penang.

Our hotel just happened to be around the corner from The Mugshot Café.

 

 

The Mugshot Cafe is just beside Rainforest Bakey at Chulia Street, stone throw away from the Hainanese Restaurant- Sin Kheng Aun.

 

 

 

A rustic, busy and friendly cafe that is a must when in George Town.

 

 

We were lucky and seated right into a table opposite their counter and cook area.

This meant we were able to people watch while we waited for our food.

 

 

 

The Mugshot menu includes an array of Yoghurts such as Kiwi & Honey and Mango & Walnut plus bagels toasted in a wood fired oven, pana cotta and coffee.

 

 

The wood fired oven that operating during the day time.

The Bagel Muffin will be reheated in their oven using wood fire before serving to ensure crunchiness.

 

 

 Tables, chairs and the bar are made from recycled pallet wood

 

 

All the chairs are mini. It reminds me of my Primary School Chair.

 Sat on the seating area near the counter, sipping a cup of cappuccino and watching the bustling Chulia Street scene.

 

 

The Mugshot Café is indeed one of these ‘on the road’ treats that we so strongly need at times.

I'm all times armed with my camera to capture these moments.

 

 

All the bakery products are preservative free.

The proprietor, Mr Tan Boo Geok and his wife is very friendly and goes to great length to share with the customers the different types of healthy and organic bread.

The bakers are their twin sons, Jerry and Jesse.

We were almost 11pm and most of the cakes are gone.

Everton Park is slowing turning into a café hopping estate by itself with small boutique café opening up one after another.

 

 

The Provision Shop is a gourmet eatery with fresh, light meals for lunch and a rotating menu of weekly dinner specials.
